Q. How do I know if Homebased childcare is the right decision for my child?

Q. Who chooses the Educator for my child?
A. BJ’s Homebased childcare services will see which Educators have space for the hours you require care and if there is more than one Educator to visit BJ’s will take you to meet all the available Educators and you can then choose which one will suit your child’s needs.
Q. What are the guidelines for your service?
A. All our homes meet the requirements of the Ministry of Education’s Homebased Care Order, ensuring a fun, safe, educational and caring environment. BJ’s is Chartered by the Ministry of Education and operate under the Homebased Care Order 1992.
Q. What age group do you provide childcare for?
A. As we provide preschool education, our age group is from birth to 6 years and Educators can have up to 4 children at any one time (no more than 2 under 2 year olds ).
Q. Is there a waiting list?
A. Depending on your hours, the age of your child and the location that you require childcare, we will let you know very quickly if we have Educators available to meet your childcare needs.
Q. What support can I expect from BJ’s Homebased Childcare Services?
A. BJ’s Homebased Childcare Services have highly qualified Coordinators who support Educators and the children in their care.
Q. Can I settle my child in care before he/she starts care with my Educator?
A. Yes, we do recommend that parents do some visits before leaving their child in the Educator's care.
Q. Do I pay my Educator my childcare fees?
A. No, you will receive an invoice from BJ’s Homebased Childcare Services (Ltd) on a weekly basis (if you owe money) either via the post or email.
Q. Can I receive a WINZ childcare subsidy?
A. Yes BJ’s Homebased childcare services are approved for a WINZ subsidy and families can get up to 50 hours per week.
